Emirates Diplomatic Academy (EDA), the UAE’s leading institution specialising in international relations, diplomacy, education, executive training and research, formally announced signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, at a ceremony celebrating 25 Years of UAE-Kazakhstan friendship and Diplomatic Relations.

Attendees of the ceremony were joined by high-level senior officials and ambassadors, such as His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Ahmed bin Sultan Al Jaber, the UAE Ambassador to the Republic of Kazakhstan, His Excellency Kairat Lama Sharif, the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the UAE, Her Excellency Fatima Zhakypova, the Rector of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Al Matrooshi, Director of the Department of West Asia, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. This MoU will promote cooperation between the two institutions through joint educational, training and research activities; and exchange of information and expertise about common interests, as well as faculty, researchers, and students.

In addition to the MoU signing, participants had an engaging and thought provoking roundtable where they discussed the cooperation between the UAE and Kazakhstan, and how the relationship created shared, mutual value from an economic, political and cultural perspective. Participants also underscored the importance of the bilateral relationship, and provided insights into the successes and opportunities that the collaboration offers to both countries.

His Excellency Kairat Lama Sharif, the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the UAE, offered comments on behalf of His Excellency Kairat Abdrahmanov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, at the event, “The relations between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the United Arab Emirates are an example of stable and successful political-economic cooperation, based on the principles of mutual respect, trust and openness. I would also like to note the historical role of the Founding Father of the UAE, the Late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, in strengthening the fraternal relations with whom the President of Kazakhstan established a strong basis for bilateral cooperation.”

His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Ahmed bin Sultan Al Jaber, the UAE Ambassador to the Republic of Kazakhstan highlighted, “It is an honour to be here among my brothers and sisters at EDA. It is an important event -- signing this MoU with EDA and the Institute of Diplomacy. When I met with EDA President His Excellency Léon to discuss this celebration, he expressed significant interest in Kazakhstan. We will cooperate with our colleagues, and together with my friend, His Excellency Kairat Lama Sharif, we will put forward all our efforts to support relations between our two countries.”
Speaking on the importance of the MoU, His Excellency Bernardino Léon said, “We are confident that this partnership will enhance EDA’s impact, as we look to foster even greater collaboration for our students and create an environment that promotes knowledge sharing and cross-cultural understanding.”

Finally, in closing the event, His Excellency Léon stated the role of the two institutions, “It is in our hands to build cultural links between the UAE and Kazakhstan. It will be our responsibility, and it will require our passion. We need to agree on an action plan that will bring concrete steps, and ensure that we are ready to put it into practice. The UAE and Kazakhstan have natural riches, but the countries’ wise leaderships have highlighted the need to continue investing in human capital, and in the need for greater diplomacy and capabilities.”

The new collaboration and partnership are strong demonstrations of EDA’s ongoing efforts to support the foreign relations of the UAE, and to raise the profile of the Academy and enhance the learning experience of its students.
