Emirates Diplomatic Academy (EDA), the UAE’s leading international relations and diplomacy, education, executive training and research institution, held a graduation ceremony for a group of new senior Diplomats.
Developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, EDA’s New Ambassador Programme provides senior diplomats with the tools and knowledge to effectively represent the UAE on a world stage.
The three-month executive education programme develops a range of skills and competencies – including political analysis, diplomatic correspondence, strategic thinking and scenario planning – while exploring various topics related to global affairs, communications with media, and cross-cultural communication skills.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony, held at the Academy’s Sheikh Zayed Hall, Bernardino León, President of EDA, said: “We are proud of our new graduates, who are now equipped with the capabilities that will enable them to better serve the UAE’s foreign policy goals. Executive education holds a prominent place in EDA’s mission of supporting the country’s global diplomatic ambitions.”
For her part, Mariam Al Mahmoud, Director of the Executive Training and Student Affairs Department, added: “Today’s graduation is just the beginning. These new senior diplomats will take the knowledge and skills they have gained, and share them with others through their work in diplomatic missions abroad. Meanwhile, EDA will continue to enhance its programmes to ensure that our world-class professionals receive the international-calibre education they deserve.”
EDA has brought world-renowned experts and practitioners in the field of diplomacy to the UAE to inspire budding diplomats to become worthy representatives of their country. The New Ambassador Programme is a prime example of how the Academy meets its mandate of preparing students to strengthen the UAE’s international relations and deliver its foreign policy messages across the globe.
